Dedé marca, Cruzeiro bate o Botafogo e vence primeira no Brasileirão

No entanto, ela conseguiu suportar.

Wily Henderson keeps scoring down

Half-centuries from Wayne Madsen and Daniel Redfern gave Derbyshire the edge at the end of a tough first day against Leicestershire

27-Apr-2011
ScorecardHalf-centuries from Wayne Madsen and Daniel Redfern gave Derbyshire the edge atthe end of a tough first day in their County Championship clash with Leicestershire at Grace Road.Derbyshire, who beat their East Midlands neighbours by an innings and 32 runsjust two weeks ago, were 238 for 5 at stumps despite a superb spell of bowling from Leicestershire veteran Claude Henderson. The left-arm spinner finished the day with figures of 3 for 69 from 33 overs. At one stage Derbyshire looked in real trouble at 174 for 5, but recovered courtesy of an unbroken partnership of 64 between Redfern and Luke Sutton.Having won the toss it proved hard work for Derbyshire’s batsmen throughout themorning session with the variable bounce on a slow pitch causing plenty ofproblems. The conditions certainly favoured the bowlers and Leicestershire would havebeen disappointed to claim only one wicket by lunch.Madsen should have been out on 14 when he edged a delivery from Matthew Hoggardthat reared outside the off stump only for Jacques Du Toit to put down the catchat slip. The introduction of Nadeem Malik brought Leicestershire the breakthrough in the15th over with the total at 44. Malik produced a fine delivery that swung in andfound the inside edge of Wesley Durston’s bat and this time wicket keeper TomNew took the catch.Usman Khawaja, who made his Australia Test debut against England in the winter, signalled his intentions with four crisp boundaries off Wayne White andDerbyshire looked in a sound position on 82 for 1 at lunch. But the game then swung Leicestershire’s way as Henderson produced anoutstanding exhibition of spin bowling claiming three wickets for 60 runs duringan unbroken spell of 30 overs. It was Hoggard who struck first however, having Khawaja caught behind for 35 in his third over after lunch. An edged four off Nathan Buck brought Madsen his half century off 142 balls, before he was trapped lbw trying to force a shot through leg side off a quicker ball from Henderson.Chesney Hughes, who had been dropped at slip by Will Jefferson off Henderson’sbowling, then slashed a catch to point off the spinner. And when Henderson clipped the top of Greg Smith’s off-stump with another cleverly flighted delivery shortly after tea, Derbyshire looked in some trouble. But a battling sixth-wicket stand between Redfern and Sutton restored Derbyshire’s grip on the game. Sutton, however, was given a life when he was dropped at slip by Jefferson offthe bowling of Malik when he had made 20.But Redfern, showing great discipline and concentration, reached his 50 off 151 balls, with six fours, and was still there at the close on 58 with Sutton keeping him company on 21.

– Diego Alves é profissional espetacular, comprometido, goleiro consagrado mundialmente.

Acreditamos no trabalho dele.

'Confident of corruption-free World Cup' – Lorgat

Haroon Lorgat thinks that it is better to regulate betting rather than keeping it illegal•AFP

Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, has said that he is confident about having a corruption-free World Cup, especially after the anti-corruption tribunal’s verdict that banned three Pakistan players on charges of spot-fixing.”I am confident for two reasons,” Lorgat told the . “The main one is that the vast majority of players are honest players. They do play the game in the spirit that it should be played. They are not seeking to make gains out of untoward means.”Secondly, we are alive to what could come to the fore in terms of corruption. We have measures in place, and people forget we had been tracking this long before the had broken the story.Lorgat said the ICC was having discussions at appropriate levels about whether gambling could be legalised on the sub-continent, where cricket has long been under the spectre of illegal bookies and betting. “I agree with the notion that if it is regulated, it is a lot better than if it is not regulated. We have made inquiries, and these are the things we are working towards.”Since the spot-fixing scandal broke last year, Lorgat said that the ICC had increased its anti-corruption staff, and were now “more vigilant around leads we pick up.”Lorgat has said that the punishments handed out were severe enough, and felt that it would deter players in future. “I think it would take someone very brave not to take heed of what has happened.”In legal terms, you have to be proportionate when you mete out punishment. We must distinguish between match-fixing and spot-fixing. This is a very experienced group of judges. They have enormous experience and expertise, and they are independent. They have applied their minds and decided on what is a proportionate sanction.”

Porterfield reprimanded for criticising umpire

Ireland captain William Porterfield has been officially reprimanded for speaking out about umpire Asoka de Silva’s decision to give Gary Wilson out lbw in Ireland’s loss to West Indies in Mohali last Friday

Ireland captain William Porterfield has been officially reprimanded for criticising umpire Asoka de Silva’s decision to give Gary Wilson out lbw in Ireland’s loss to West Indies in Mohali last Friday. Porterfield’s statements were deemed to be in breach of the section of the ICC’s Code of Conduct that relates to “public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to, an incident occurring in an international match or any player, player support personnel or match official”.He was given the minimum penalty of a warning, but Roshan Mahanama, the match referee for the game, decided not to impose a fine in light of the fact that it was Porterfield’s first such offence. “Although it may not be unusual for a captain to feel aggrieved or frustrated by what he feels is a rough decision, it does not give him any right to criticise the umpire as William did,” Mahanama said in explanation of his decision.Wilson, who was batting on 61, reviewed de Silva’s decision, and replays showed that the ball had hit the pad outside off stump. However, de Silva stuck to his original decision, even after protests from Wilson – who saw the replays on the big screen – asked for a second look at the decision. Porterfield said after the game that he did not understand why it had been given out.”The feedback we have got so far is that the ball hit him outside the line and the umpire judged him [to be] not playing a shot. I don’t know how many people agree with that,” Porterfield had said. “The word we are getting at the minute is the umpire went back upstairs to check if he hit the ball before the impact on the pad and if it was pad first, or bat first. Surely if you are asking if it was pad first or bat first, you know he is playing a shot. In my opinion they got it wrong.”The DRS rules state that when an ‘out’ decision is being reviewed, “the evidence provided by technology should show that no part of the ball at the moment of interception is between wicket and wicket,” in order for it to be judged to be hitting outside the line. This was the case with Wilson, which means de Silva’s only reason for giving it out could have been that Wilson was not playing a shot. The ICC, however, have not given any confirmation of why de Silva refused to reverse his decision, with Mahanama instead citing the importance of respecting the on-field umpire’s decision. “The umpire’s decision is final and it is a long-standing pillar of our game that the match officials should receive absolute respect for their decisions,” he said.de Silva has had to change several of his decisions in the tournament so far after teams have reviewed them. In the game between South Africa and Netherlands in Mohali, he got two seemingly simple decisions wrong. He initially gave Peter Borren not out and had to reverse the call when replays showed the balls was hitting middle stump, and he then failed to see an inside-edge onto the pad from Bas Zuiderent. Before that, in the game between Australia and Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad, he had to overturn two of his decisions: first when Brad Haddin was struck on the back foot in front of middle stump and he gave it not out, and then when Craig Ervine was apparently plumb and he again decided not to raise the finger.

Bennett happy in supporting role

Hamish Bennett, the New Zealand fast-bowler, has insisted he’s happy to support Tim Southee and James Franklin despite being an obvious new-ball candidate after his heroics in New Zealand’s nine-wicket defeat of Pakistan in the first ODI

Hamish Bennett, the New Zealand fast-bowler, has insisted he’s happy to support Tim Southee and James Franklin despite being an obvious new-ball candidate after his heroics in New Zealand’s nine-wicket defeat of Pakistan in the first ODI.He and Southee were expected to open the bowling but allrounder Franklin took the new ball with Bennett second change. The formula clearly worked well as Southee finished with man-of-the-match figures of 5 for 33 and Bennett chipping in with three wickets of his own.New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori said a horses-for-courses approach was being taken and with the history of bowler-friendly conditions Queenstown, Southee and Franklin’s ability to swing the new ball would likely see them open again in Wednesday’s second match.”I think we’ll look to use James, particularly in Queenstown where the wicket probably suits the swing and seam bowler,” Vettori said. “When we get to the likes of Hamilton and Napier, maybe we’ll revisit it on the flatter wickets.”Vettori felt that Bennett, who finished with 3 for 26 from eight overs in just his third one-day international, was better suited to first or second change.”I think that’s where he’s most comfortable, but if he keeps bowling as well as he did [on Saturday], there’s no reason why he can’t step up into that opening role. We just hope he keeps performing that way.”Bennett, 23, is by far the quickest bowler in the team and generated good pace and bounce throughout the opening ODI. He was happy to start with the older ball in the circumstances but hopes to get hold of the new ball in future and feels he can generate more pace as he settles into the team.”I think Franky and Timmy do a good job swinging the new ball so we’ve got to use that, especially with the conditions we had [on Saturday],” he said. “I probably rely more on bounce so if I can use that and bowl a heavy nut it’s going to help.””I’ve never bowled [at the stadium] before so it was quite funny, it always felt like you were bowling into [the wind], so I found that quite tough. Hopefully in Queenstown I have the wind at my back. I think in Bangladesh last year I got clocked just under 145kmh so if I can get the conditions going my way, hopefully a bit quicker but who knows? If it’s not in the right area it doesn’t really matter, does it?”New Zealand routed Pakistan with their batsmen chasing down the modest target of 125 in just 17.2 overs. The new opening partnership of Jesse Ryder and Martin Guptill surged with an 84-run stand in 10 overs as John Wright’s first move for the ODI team succeeded. Ryder returned to form after a difficult Test series with 55 from 34 balls, while Guptill ended 40 not out and Ross Taylor was unbeaten on 23.After an 11-match losing streak last year Vettori was pleased to return to winning ways but cautioned the conditions were nothing like what the side will face come the World Cup next month. “It’s a difficult one because we’re not going to play on any wickets like that at the World Cup but this series is about getting that winning feeling back.”
